Bride Irreverently Poses Next to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji's Saroop
Glen Cove, New York (KP) - Another western couple has created a storm of controversy at an American Gurdwara Sahib, as photos surfaced of a woman sitting irreverently atop the sacred dais known as Takht Sahib with her back purposely turned against Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji’s sacred Saroop.
The photos were reportedly taken by a local photographer at Gurdwara Glen Cove in New York after an interfaith wedding that was performed at this Gurdwara Sahib.
The Gurdwara Sahib head Granthi, and the committee members, have conveniently shifted the blame on the families of the bride and groom, stating the pictures were taken after the marriage function and without the committee’s consent.
On the other hand, the photographer who took the pictures, Nadia D. apologized on her behalf for the incident. Here is her statement:
Nevertheless, the images of the bride with her back turned towards Guru Sahib Ji’s saroop have already been plastered across various social network sites, along with recent photos of another east coast couple who partook in an Anand-Karj against the Sikh Rehit Maryada, which has also drawn flak from the Sikh community.
