Amritsar Sahib (KP) - Even though the recent activities of 'Chicagowala Baba' Daljit Singh had caused a lot of anguish within the Sikh Community living in United States and Punjab, from the recent directives of Sri Akal Takhat, it seems that it is not interested in resolving this issue any time soon.
At a recent meeting held at Sri Akal Takhat Sahib, the Singh Sahibs postponed this case to a later date despite the fact that much hard evidence was submitted to Sri Akal Takhat Sahib. This evidence also included police reports which were also published on Panthic Weekly. These were submitted to Sri Akal Takhat Sahib by a delegation of Sikhs from Chicago.
Whether this decision was influenced by Baba Daljit Singh’s recent visit to India or not cannot be stated as nothing has been publicized about Baba Daljit Singh’s recent visit to Punjab, despite the fact that the visit was rather long. Though Sri Akal Takhat Sahib Jathedar has failed to do something about Baba Daljit Singh’s recent activities, he has however taken strong favorable steps in countering other anti-Panthic elements recently.
The Akal Takhat Sahib Jathedar passed directives seeking clarification from the Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh for sponsoring advertisements in the ‘anti-Panthic’ Spokesmen. The Jathedar stated that being a Sikh, Amarinder Singh must abide by the directives of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib. The Spokesmen editor was excommunicated from the Khalsa Panth for his anti-Gurmat activities and the Sikh nation was asked to refrain from helping the Spokesmen in any way.
