SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (KP) - The first ever Gurmat Camp held in Utah was organized by Baru Sahib (Kalgidhar Trust) with help from local Gurdwaras. Over three dozen students attended the daily classes which includes lessons on Sikh history, Gurbani Path santhea, Punjabi, kirtan and other subjects. The camp was held at West Jordan Gurdwara Sahib from October 5th to November 2nd.
In addition to the daily classes, the camp included a dastar bandhi competition in which students learned and competed at the same time. A gurmat quiz and drawing competition depicting Sikh subjects was also held and largely participated in by all students. Prizes were given out to the winners and runners up to encourage participation.
The camp would not have been complete without the participation of Bhai Harpal Singh who had especially come from Baru Sahib. He encouraged local Sikh families to take part in similar programs and also invited all to take place at the Annual Summer Camp held at Baru Sahib every year.
