Kanwarpal Singh of Dal Khalsa & KAC representatives speaking to the press
Apology is no balm to Sikh insult, only arrest of pseudo-saint will pacify the Sikhs
So-called “apology” move; another attempt to mislead the Sikhs and mock at Sikh institutions
Amritsar- Accusing Sirsa Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh for playing with jugglery of words in his so-called “apology” move, the Dal Khalsa and the Khalsa Action Committee (KAC) today termed it as ‘another attempt to mislead the Sikhs and mock at Sikh institutions’.
Addressing the press conference at Dal Khalsa office here today, Bhai Mokham Singh of the KAC and Kanwar Pal Singh spokesperson of the Dal Khalsa said the timing (polls) speaks out that the move was well thought and calculated aimed at showing a carrot to Akalis on one hand and creating divisions amongst Sikhs on other.
We have strong feelings that Akalis might fall in trap and strike a deal with Dera Sirsa as they were desperate to woo Dera votes even at the cost of Sikh principles, they alleged. Reacting sharply on the language he has used and the manner he has mocked at Akal Takht, they said he has added a fuel to fire by stating; “Sikh clergy should not insist on my appearance alone, with my devotees. Otherwise I invite Sikh clergy to Dera with any number of people”.
He (Dera head) is guilty of committing sacrilege. 3 Sikhs have been murdered by his goons. He has no moral ground to negotiate before or underhand. As a guilty person, he can appear before the Akal Takht to seek pardon for his past blunders and give assurance that the same would not be repeated in future. That’s the only option left for him”, said the leaders. However, they were quick to add that they had strong doubts about his intentions. “We have strong conviction that this pseudo-saint has neither any regret nor he was ashamed of his blasphemous acts”.
While the Khalsa Panth was the ultimate authority to decide on the issue, they said the Sikhs were united in their fight against Dera Sirsa and that they would abide by the collective decision of the Sikh Panth.
The Dal Khalsa in a communiqué sent to Akal Takht secretariat urged its Jathedar to take stern action against Gurcharan Singh Galib, Sher Singh Gobaya, Raninder Singh, candidates from Ludhiana, Ferozepur and Bathinda seats respectively for violating the May 17 & 20 edict of the Akal Takht against Sirsa Dera.
The party spokesperson Kanwarpal Singh said his party had submitted a memo against three of them for personally meeting with excommunicated person Gurmeet Ram Rahim to seek his “political” blessings and would pursue the matter once the jathedar will return from his abroad tour this week. Describing the development as a grave blunder committed by all three, he said let them appear at Akal Takht to prove their innocence.
Others who were present during press conference include Dr Arpal Singh, Baldev Singh and Amrik Singh Ajnala.
