AMRITSAR SAHIB (KP)--Shortly before the elections, two incidents have arisen at Harmandir Sahib. The first incident occurred when an allegedly mentally deranged Hindu man sat on the peehra sahib on which the parkash of Guru Granth Sahib Ji is done ( link ). The culprit, Rajiv Kumar, 21, of Golbagh area, said he was ordered by Guru Nanak Dev Ji in a dream to sit on the seat. However, it has been documented in many newspapers that Rajiv Kumar's father is active in politics and currently has a political post in Punjab with many ties to the crooked political godfather, Parkash Badal.
Shortly after the first incident, it was initially reported that another youth spilled acid on the Granthi and the Guru Granth Sahib Ji inside the Akal Takht last Monday around 04:30 PM. After the intoxicated Harpreet "Singh" aka Sunny was caught and confiscated, it was discovered that the acid was actual water which came from the Holy Amrit Sarovar according to Jathedar Bhai Gurbachan Singh's personal assistant Jaswinder Singh.
Harpreet "Singh" resident of Shivala Colony is described as a youth in his early 20's with trimmed hair and beard. Sunny first drew holy water from the amrit sarovar and collected it in a plastic jug. He then disrespectfully threw it on Granthi Major Singh while he was reciting Gurbani in one of the Darbar halls behind Sri Akal Takht Complex When the vigilant sangat witnessed this beadbi they collectively captured the culprit in an attempt to question the man and take him into custody.
While Sunny was being questioned by upset visitors, the Badal appointed Akal Takht Jathedar, Bhai Gurbachan Singh, and SGPC Secretary Dalmegh Singh rushed to the discontent sangat and tried to pacify the devotees. This man was then protected from the concerned sangat and given to the SGPC staffers. After being in the custody of the SGPC, he was shortly handed over to the police without any type of inquiry.
Why was this man not questioned by SGPC authorities about his motives? If he was questioned, why were his remarks not reported to the concerned sangat? Furthermore, why was SGPC security apathetic in performing their duty? Shouldn't security forces be more apprehensive due to the first incident? Couldn't they detect a person under the influence of drugs or alcohol? In addition, why was the Jathedar and SGPC staff trying to prevent the vigilant sangat from questioning the man? It is not a coincidence that two disrespectful incidents occurred within a two week span before the elections.
Surely these acts of blatant disrespect were orchestrated for some selfish motive. Interestingly, to avoid international criticism, both incidents attempted to be covered up by Makkar, one of the most loyal hounds of Badal. Rumors are flying that the notorious Badal plotted these events to disrupt voting in Punjab. As an attempt to stir controversy and prevent people from entering the polls, Badal decided to promote sacrilegious acts at the holy Harmandir Sahib.
