PATIALA, Punjab (KP)-This past week, a group of three unidentified persons seriously injured Rulda Sinh, a prominent leader of Rashtriya Sikh Sangat. The incident took place at Rulda's residence and his shop at the Dana Mandi in Patiala on July 29 at 10 pm.
According to received reports, the assailants were in their youth age but their identity has yet not been confirmed. Around six bullets were fired at Rulda Sinh who was admitted to the local hospital in Patiala. However, considering his serious condition, he was at once transferred to the PGI in Chandigarh.
No confirmation has come from the Punjab Police so far regarding the shooting incident; however fingers have been pointed at several organizations and individuals. Rulda, who heads the RSS in Punjab, has close ties with the Bhartiya Janta Party whose leadership is currently in shatters. In addition, a letter being circulated under the name of Bhai Jagtar Singh Tara under a newly designed letterhead of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) claims the responsibility of shooting on Rulda.
Sources however raise suspicion over the email since it is signed under a newly designed letterhead signed under a new logo of the Babbar Khalsa. In addition, the slogan of BKI has been removed from the logo which leads to further suspicion. Without any doubt, BKI and other Sikh organizations have always been against the ideologies of RSS but whether the Babbar Khalsa has truly taken responsibility of the act cannot yet be confirmed.
Last received report from the PGI shed light that Rulda is still in serious condition. It has been shared that one bullet fully crossed his brain. Other bullets from his body have been removed but caused serious damage to Rulda's brain. In addition, the blood draining seemed to have caused much trouble for Rulda. So far Rulda has not gained consciousness at the PGI despite having received all possible treatment.
In the past few months, there has been news of internal differences erupting in the BJP. Following the eminent loss in the recently contested elections, BJP leaders who were at once very closely affiliated with Parkash Badal have also given signs of splitting. Rulda, on the other hand had recently invited Sarna (close opponent of Badal) to speak at a grand RSS event being organized in Bhopal.
A press release sent by the Rashtriya Sikh Sangat condemned the incident. The letter, also received by the Panthic Weekly, asks Parkash Badal to utilize full resources in order to investigate the event. It has been learnt that Parkash Badal; along with other Shiromani Akali Dal leaders have already paid visits to Rulda at the PGI.
