Dear Dr. Amrit Singh,
Your article on Gurpartap Singh's death ( http://www.panthic.org/news/123/ARTICLE/2159/2006-01-08.html) was much appreciated. I am a 70-year-old student who asked Gurpartap to help me write a paper on the Sikhs and the dangers of being a cabbie. He was such a loving person and believed steadfastly in the basic good of humanity, even to denying the hate in "hate crimes". He spent much time with me, taking me to his gurdwara and even inviting me to his house to meet his wife and have a lovely meal. I also befriended Valarie Kaur, whom you may know as the authoress of "Divided We Fall", a documentary on the post 9/11 incidents of violence. She, too was shocked by Gurpartap's death. There is such an empty spot in my heart after such a loss. Navjot was very kind to me at the funeral, but I didn't have adequate words to express my grief. Many, many people were there, but the hole left by the loss of Gurpartap could not be filled. Valarie and I believe that her documentary may help ordinary Americans understand the Sikh position. I am so glad more articulate people such as you have written articles relating his story. Thank you very much,
Appreciatively and sincerely,
SHOSHANA (SUSAN TUTTLE)
