Jathedar Vedanti`s Khalistan Comments Reverberate Globally
New York , USA (KP) – During the recently held Nagar Kirtan at New York , Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti surprised everyone with his pro-Khalistan remarks. While asking the Sikh masses to unite to raise awareness of Sikh genocide, Jathedar Vedanti expressed that the incidents of November 1984 could not be termed riots, they were organized pogroms and genocidal violence.
These views by Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti were expressed openly at a discussion session. The same program was attended by many pro-Khalistani activists and other eminent public figures. Joginder Singh Vedanti expressed that the Sikh Community should dedicate itself to bring the 1984 culprits to justice. These remarks came almost after the 22nd anniversary of the Declaration of Khalistan from Akal Takht Sahib.
Video of Jathedar Vedanti's remarks is widely available on the Internet
Singh Sahib Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti also appealed to Sikh families living abroad to save their children from being apostate. He asked Sikhs to remain attached to bani and bana. He held that before re-establishing the struggle for Khalistan, Sikhs need to adhere to basic Sikh principles such as doing nitnem and performing community service.
While Sikh leadership residing in the United States commended Jathedar Vedanti for speaking openly in favor of Khalistan, the Akal Takht Sahib's appointed Jathedar faces tough criticism in Punjab. Sukhbir Badal, President Shiromani Akali Dal--whom many consider the Jathedar's handler--himself is facing a tricky situation, as his party has adopted a policy to appeal to right-wing Hindu leaders.
Ever since forming a political alliance with the BJP, the Shiromani Akali Dal has shelved all pro-Panthic talks, let alone the word Khalistan. According to trusted sources, concerns have been raised within the internal circles of the Shiromani Akali Dal to oust Jathedar Vedanti and find his replacement. It seems it is their duty to hire and fire the Jathedar of the Sikh Nation.
