Desperate for Votes: Nakli-Akali Parkash Badal Visits Sacha Sauda Cult
Wednesday 31st of January 2007
Panthic Weekly News Bureau

Parkash Badal (Extreme Left) and Sukhbir Badal (4th from Left) appear at Gurmeet Rahim Rahim's court

Sirsa, Punjab (KP) - To amplify the desperate efforts being made to win the State Assembly Elections, reports are coming in from trustworthy sources that Parkash Badal, the former Chief Minister of Punjab, has visited several anti-Panthic elements in order to gain their support.  The Sirsa based Sacha Sauda cult, is amongst those that Parkash Badal has visited.  The self-styled cult leader, Gurmeet Ram Rahim—whose name has been augmented by Panthic newspapers for the past several weeks—is receiving heavy disapproval for trying to utilize his large following in manipulating the election results and cause tensions within the state.

Although the cult has yet to announce its plans for the assembly elections, the political party that can earn Gurmeet's 'blissful stroke' will be under a great advantage in the elections because the followers of Sacha Sauda surpass 50 lakh in population.  There are several other similar cults based in Punjab with a large following.  All of these cults, such as the Radhaswamis, Noor Mahal and Bhanearewale are expected to wreak havoc in the forthcoming elections.

Parkash Badal and other party members have been criticized in the past for working in agreement with anti-Panthic organizations.  Recently, Avtar Makkar, President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and a close associate of Badal, received intensive condemnation for paying a visit to Baba Virsa in Delhi, seeking his blessings for the success of the Badal Dal in the Delhi Shiromani Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) elections.  Furthermore, a closed-door meeting was also held between Avtar Makkar, RSS supremo Rulda Sinh and Delhi based Avtar Hit.

Further reports have come to attention regarding the issue that many Akali leaders have also been holding meetings with the political wing of Dera Sacha Sauda.  Distinguished local members of Sacha Sauda, belonging to various villages have also been brought into confidence in order to win their support in elections.  In the past, Parkash Badal and his family members have met with other cult leaders such as the ill reputed Ashutosh Jha of the Noor Mahal cult and Hardev Sinh of the Nirankari cult.
