Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab - The Sikh Students Federation (SSF) stated that it will submit a memorandum to Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar on August 15 regarding an anti-Sikh article in Outlook magazine. The SSF President Parmjeet Singh Gazi informed the media persons that a high level committee of five members will meet Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar in Amritsar and seek action against Outlook Magazine as it has disrespected Sikh History, Sikh Personalities, Sikh Martyrs, Sikh Identity and has hurt Sikh Feelings.

Outlook's portrayal of Sant Bhindranwale
He said that in August 14-20, 2007 issue of the Magazine Published in English and Hindi from New Delhi it has shown Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, Bhai Satwant Singh and Bhai Beant Singh as villains of last 60 years.
Gazi said that these personalities have been recognized as Martyrs of Sikh Nation by Sri Akal Takht Sahib and their martyr day is observed at Sri Akal Takht Sahib every year.
He claimed that terming these martyrs as villains is an attack on Sikh Personalities as well as Sikh History.
SSF President further said that the magazine has also published a cartoon of Sant Jarnail Singh. He claimed that this is an attack on Sikh Identity, as grenades, guns and other weapons are shown in Sant Bhindranwale’s beard. He said hairs and beard is a part of Sikh identity and insulting these symbols is a big crime.
He said that placing Sikh Martyrs in the category of Dawood Ibrahim, Nathu Ram Godse, Narinder Modi, Sanjay Gandhi and Bal Thakrey is a disrespect of Sikhs in itself. He said Indian media is playing anti-Sikh role.
He said magazine is silent on accused of Delhi Sikh Massacre. Besides this Indira Gandhi is a hero for the magazine while she was guilty of storming Sri Darbar Sahib, most sacred place of Sikhs thus killing thousands innocent Sikhs. He claimed that Indra Gandhi was also guilty of outraging Indian Constitution, imposed after partition of 1947 by imposing emergency in 1975. He said SSF will seek strict action against this magazine as it has hearted feelings of entire Sikh Nation. He appealed Sikh Sangat to remain vigilant about continuous attack on Sikhs by Indian Media, be it Electronic or Print.
