Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab - Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) president Simranjit Singh Mann has sent letters to Sikhs abroad, who have expressed their concern about  the party’s expelled senior vice president Daljit Singh Bittu and their desire to keep unity in Shiromani Akali Dal (A).

In his letter Mann has expressed his inability to let two ideologies prevail in the same party and Bittu’s Sardar Daljit Singh’s desire to be with the Shiromani Akali Dal (A) and Khalsa Action Committee at the same time. He said that this is not possible in any political party or system in the world as one can have the cake and eat it as well.

As per Mann, discipline in the party is paramount and he can’t allow any leader, much less Bittu to lead two parties, the SAD  (A) and Khalsa Action Committee.  As per Mann, the latter has held meetings with the Dera Sacha Sauda , Punjab Chief Minister,  Punjab Governor  and Prime Minister , of which no member of this Committee even Bittu  had informed him of what had  transpired.

Moreover on August 22, 2007 at the big Sunam SAD (A)  Bittu like Jathedar Balwant Singh Nandgarh of Damdama Sahib advocated violence to settle the wrongdoing’s of  Dera Sacha Sauda chief .  Mann said he think since the dera chief has committed murder and rape, which has been established by the CBI, his party would advocate and canvas that the dera chief be arrested and face the consequences before the court. Since the dera chief stands exposed as a criminal he feels by advocating violence no Sikh should be made to face criminal action.

If the Jathedar of Damdama Sahib Balwant Singh and Bittu feel that violence is necessary, then they should lead from the front and not make the Sikh’s and SAD (A) the vehicles of their violent actions. This is what these persons have done in the past and I don’t want our party and the Sikhs to suffer and become the targets of state violence, as per Mann.

Mann said that he is not going to lead his party into a violent struggle since he has a first class criminal case against the dera chief.  He said we need to double our efforts to make him face the legal consequences.  He said that his party has also advocated that in the murder of Bhai Kamaljit Singh, the dera chief should be arrested for conspiracy- under section 120 B IPC.  He said that his party will fight as his present opponents as are father’s fought the British regime and liberated our Gurdwara’s from the evil clutches of the Hindu Mahants.

He said that this was all done and achieved through peaceful means and we wish to follow the same course.  He said he doesn’t wish to put his party and Sikh nation into another bloody feud when the earlier martyr’s families
