Hoshiarpur, Punjab (KP) -- On Wednesday the Dal Khalsa announced that the plot to place Punjab University in the control of the Central government would be detrimental to students attending Punjab University. The plot was first propagated by a small part of the teaching staff in which they mentioned such a step would be beneficial for teachers, since the Union Government offers teachers a retirement age of 65. However, besides a few university teachers, everyone from the non teaching staff of the University had no interest in being part of the Union Government.
The newly elected president of Dal Khalsa mentioned his concerns to Punjab's chief minister. In his address, President Harcharanjit Singh Dhami explained that this approach was a diabolical attempt by RSS agents to seize control of Punjab University and shed the remaining roles Sikhs have at the University. He also stated " For Badal the interests of RSS are far more important than the thousands of students studying in colleges connected with Punjab University,"
Dhami also pointed out that the same Badal who has blamed the Central government for not satisfying the demands of Punjab is now giving control of Punjab's valuable assets to the Central government. The President also mentioned how Akalis have failed by not making a serious attempt to place a Sikh Vice Chancellor in the University.
The party leader went on to mention that shortly after the university's inception, the Punjabis have been demanding that the State of Punjab have full authority of its affairs. Unfortunately, Akali Dal leader Parkash Badal has not shared the same encouragement and effort by the people of Punjab. Persuaded by arya lobbyists, Parkash Badal has given permission to allow the Union government full access and control of Punjab University. Even though roughly 40 percent of finances for the university come from the Punjab government, Arya Samaj lobbyists are gaining more influence in shaping the future of Punjab University. He also said that despite Badal's submission to the Arya Samaj, Dal Khalsa will continue to fight against diabolical schemes in the state of Punjab.
