Bhai Baljit Singh Bhau being escorted to Patiala Court
Patiala, Punjab (KP) – Bhai Baljit Singh Bhau, alleged close associate of Jathedar Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara appeared in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Mr K.S. Cheema on August 18, 2008. He was arrested by the Delhi Police in June 2005 for having close ties to Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara, the Jathedar of Babbar Khalsa International.
Bhai Baljit Singh Bhau, a graduate of the Punjab University with a Master of Arts degree in history, is currently lodged in the Tihar Jail. He issued a public letter in the name of the Sikh religion and asked the Sikh Community to be cautious of fake pseudo-saadhs.
In the letter, Bhai Bhau expressed that several Government sponsored agencies are working to raise dera-wad within the Sikh Nation. The motives of these agencies are to degrade the images of Panthic leaders. Furthermore, Bhai Bhau openly lashed out at the Sacha Sauda Cult leader Gurmeet Ram Rahim and termed his possible rumored forgiveness by Akal Takhat Sahib as a deep routed conspiracy. As stated in the letter, any Sikh leader who expresses sympathy towards Gurmeet Ram Rahim and encourages his clemency will never be forgiven by the Khalsa Panth.
Bhai Baljit Singh Bhau was brought to Patiala by the Delhi Police in relation to the Beant Sinh murder case. No decisions were taken in regards to the case and the next hearing was scheduled to take place on September 23, 2008. Defence attorneys Baljinder Singh Sodhi and Baljit Singh Joshan appealed to the court to allow Bhai Baljit Singh to wear his karaa (religious article), a belt, and keep cash money in jail that is given to him by family members. The court has submitted Bhai Baljit Singh’s lawyers' request to the authorities of the Tihar Jail and asked them to supply appropriate accommodations according to rules and regulations.
