Jathedar Bhai Mohinder Singh (KalaSanghyan)
AMRITSAR SAHIB (KP)--After the passing of Bhai Surat Singh Puran Ji last week, international and national representatives from various Akhand Kirtani Jatha units announced Bhai Mohinder Singh KalaSanghyan the next Jathedar of the Akhand Kirtani Jatha.
The international announcements came from Jatha representatives in Canada, USA, England, France, Germany, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, and Holland. Afterwards, the regional units of Madhya Pardesh, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan also declared and recognized Bhai Mohinder Singh KalaSanghyan as the official Jathedar of the Panthic organization.

In a press conference organized at the residence of Panthic Jathedar Singh Sahib Bhai Ranjit Singh Ji, it was announced that the formal installation ceremony of the new Jathedar would be performed in accordance to Gurmat traditions on January 5th, 2009 in Ludhiana on the auspicious Parkash Gurpurab of Guru Gobind Singh Ji in the presences of Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Guru-ki-Sangat and Panthic representatives.
Jathedar Bhai Ranjit Singh Ji remarked that sevadars of the Jatha, including Bhai Sahib Bhai Randhir Singh Ji, made immense sacrifices for the freedom of Sikhs and this country, yet their sacrifices are being misused by modern politicians of Punjab.
Jathedar is selected, not elected!
Bhai Ranjit Singh Ji stressed that the Jathedar of this Panthic organization is selected in accordance to Gurmat principles and qualifications, and not elected by underhanded political tactics.
The Jathedar’s comments were directed at a proclamation made by some self-styled individuals with the backing of Akali Dal Badal and the Kala-Afghana lobby who have reportedly made back-room deals to pre-empt the official January 5th, 2009 program by declaring a virtually unknown and unqualified individual as their own “Jathedar.” Similar announcements have been made in the past by pro-Government individuals connected with Baldev Singh Deputy and the so-called Parbandaki Penchain, but have never been recognized by the Sangat or the Panth.
A press statement released by Akhand Kirtani Jatha Ludhiana also criticized the unnecessary interference in the Jatha by those connected to “Kala-Aghanis and anti-(Dasam)-Bani comrades (communists).”
Bhai Mohinder Singh’s selection lauded by worldwide sangat
Bhai Mohinder Singh, who hails from the town of KalaSangha, district Kapurthala, is a well respected GurSikh who is known for his strict Rahit (discipline) and Panthic seva. During the 1980s and 1990s, he suffered severe hardships for his Panthic beliefs and practices. Due to those sacrifices, his selection was whole-heartedly welcome by the international sangat at large.
