Rare Relics to be Transferred to the Punjab Government
Friday 2nd of January 2009
Panthic Weekly News Bureau

CHANDIGARH, Punjab (KP)—The relics of Guru Gobind Singh Ji that are currently in the possession of the Nabha Royal Family will soon be transferred to the Punjab Government. The relics include Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s dastar, swords, and a comb, and have been kept with the Nabha family for centuries.

Raja Hanuwant Singh, son of Raja Pratap Singh of the Nabha Royal Family announced that an affidavit has already been filed with the Punjab and Haryana High Court to have the Punjab Government seek possession of the rare artifacts. A four member committee has been constituted on the demands of the court to seek possession of the relics and find a suitable place for their display. Earlier, before being transferred to Punjab, these relics were kept at the Palace of Nabha.

Residents of Nabha have always expressed grief at the transfer of the relics out of Nabha. According to local residents, the people of Nabha had developed a routine to visit the Nabha Palace to view the rare relics.

While filing a petition with the Punjab and Haryana High Court, these residents also expressed their willingness to cover the costs of safeguarding the relics. The Punjab and Haryana High Court has allotted a period of two months to find a suitable place for the relics.
