Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, Punjab (KP) – Adding to the list of eye-witnesses against Sajjan Kumar, another victim of the 1984 pogroms has appeared and offered to file his testimony. The All India Sikh Student Federation (AISSF) and the organization Sikhs for Justice played a key role in encouraging the victim to appear in front of the press.
In the company of S. Karnail Singh Peer Mohammed, President of AISSF, Davinder Singh Sodhi and General Secretary, S. Harinder Singh Kohli, openly described the involvement of Sajjan Kumar in the Government organized pogroms. Kohli’s father S. Sohan Singh and brother-in-law Avtar Singh were assassinated by the mobs in November 1, 1984. Kohli was also left badly injured by the mobs that attacked him with metal rods.
Harinder Singh Kohli is currently a resident of Dera Bassi, situated near Chandigarh and was living in House No: 134 A, Block Gulab Bagh Colony in New Delhi when the pogroms were implemented by the Congress Government. It was early 8:15 in the morning when Sajjan Kumar’s Fiat car followed by two trucks fully occupied by mobs entered Kohli’s neighborhood. Sajjan Kumar was sitting in the passenger seat of the off-white colored car. Four other men were seated in the back.
Shortly after Sajjan Kumar arrived, three more D.T.C. busses which were transporting mobs also arrived there. Mobs were holding metal and wooden rods and tires. Their first target was the building of the local Gurdwara Sahib. Upon approaching, they also targeted the Sikhs who were present there.
Furthermore, Kohli described the incident in which mobs incited by Sajjan Kumar killed Gurcharan Singh Jalongi in front of his eyes. Gurcharan Singh had testified against Sajjan Kumar and his execution was very important for the Congress Government.
Kohli told the press that ever since he was injured, he has not been given any kind of assistance by the Government. He was also not granted the Red Card which was designed especially to help the victims of the 1984 pogroms. He has appealed to the Centre Government to punish the murderers of the Sikhs. S. Peer Mohammed also alleged that in the coming days, at least 13 more eye-witnesses will be brought in front of the media and the Federation will try its very best to have the culprits against the Sikh Nation punished.
