New Delhi (KP) – The book “My Country, My Life” was recently released this past month throughout India. In the autobiography by the BJP and RSS supremo, Lal Krishan Advani attempts to provide an insight into many of the most divisive incidents that have formed the country’s history. The book is completely propaganda by the “Indian Nationalist Leader.”
Just like the country of India itself, its leaders are also slated with controversy—the BJP Chief is no different. Along with his background information, Advani has covered several topics, such as the partition of India and Pakistan, joining the RSS, assassination of Gandhi, fall of the Janta Government and return of Indira Gandhi, Ayodhya “Movement”, Operation Bluestar and Punjab, the eminent Rath-Yatra, Kargil War and others.
Ever since being released, the book has brought the wrath of the public on the author—especially from minorities. The Muslim community has taken strong notice of Advani’s pro-Modi remarks in the book. Narendra Modi was the MP in Gujarat when the Government Organized rampage resulted in the massacre of over 2,000 Muslims. While openly praising Modi (and criticizing Vajpayee, Jaswant Singh, Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh), Advani detailed that although Vajpayee wanted to oust Modi after the Gujarat riots, he backed Modi.
Several former members of the BJP that left the party recently after expressing dissatisfaction with Advani have declared plans to burn copies of the book. Sunil Oza, former BJP MLA from Bhavnagar announced that shortly, a new front with the name of ‘Rashtriya Swabhiman Manch’ will be launched to oppose Advani.
On the other side, the autobiography of Advani also does a great job of spreading salt on the wounds of the Sikh Community. Advani shares details of his approval of Indira Gandhi’s decision to launch Operation Bluestar.
While speaking to the press from Chandigarh, Rajinder Bhattal also expressed her anguish over the contents of the book. Ms. Bhattal held that Advani has expressed his ignorance of the Sikh religion in the book by expressing his belief that the Sikh Gurus were merely ‘Saints’ and not ‘Gurus’. Bhattal also asked the Badals to clear their stance on the contents of the book since they were close allies of the Bhartiya Janata Party.
Delhi Shiromani Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) along with the Khalsa Action Committee (KAC) has also come out heavily against Advani. Harwinder Sarna, former DSGMC President, held that Advani worked to instigate attacks on the Sikhs after Operation Bluestar. Sarna also said that Advani, along with the BJP, should tender an apology to the Sikh Community since they too demanded action against the Sikh ‘militants’ during the 80’s. While referencing page 430 of the autobiography, Bhai Mohkam Singh, convener of the KAC, also demanded an explanation from the Shiromani Akal Dal about its relations with the BJP and LK Advani.
