Man Tu(n) Jot Saroop Hai Apna Mool Paichan(n)
Oh my mind, you are the embodiment of the Divine Light, recognize your origin!
Countless attendees described Khalsa Camp as a life changing experience from the immense Gursikhi pyar in the atmosphere. Campers from all walks of life and levels of spiritual experience were provided with a unique opportunity to introspect that spirit which resides within us all in an open and comfortable setting.
Each day began in the ambrosial hours of amritvela when the sangat joined in the presence of Guru Granth Sahib Ji with melodious kirtan and naam simran. For many of the campers this was the first time they did nitnem and so this was a truly uplifting opportunity. Without a doubt the naam simran at amritvela was the most powerful and inspiring experience of the camp.
Numerous lectures on various Gurmat-related topics ranging from the essentials of Sikhi to the Five Spiritual Khands were given by local Gursikhs in the UK along with Gursikhs from Toronto-based Tapoban Gurdwara Sahib. The lectures and Q&A sessions proved to be an invaluable resource for all the campers as this provided a venue where they had the opportunity to have open dialogue and discussion and ask questions that they normally would not have the opportunity to ask in their local sangats.
Throughout the day there was also a wide variety of workshops where campers had the chance to learn how to tie a dastar, or learn how to do seva of Guru Sahib among others. The camp provided several recreational activities including horseback riding, go-karting, sports activities and a trip to the beach. Perhaps one of the most lasting impacts of the camp is the life-long friendships and bonds that are formed in the short scope of one week.
Indeed Khalsa Camp is a one of a kind experience where through Guru Sahib’s Kirpa the campers have the opportunity to discover the inner light within us all.
