New Delhi (KP) – Despite the best efforts to portray itself as a great democracy, the shameful ugly face of Hindu India has once again been exposed by the independent media and press. Recent revelations made by the Tehelka news investigative team have uncovered the hideous and evil faces behind the 2002 post-Godhra riots. Behind the mask, are faces eerily similar to the ones who organized anti-Sikh pogroms of November 1984.
Clearly the aim of the Godhra rioters was to kill, and inflict pain in mass numbers. Not only were the perpetrators provided with the equipment to accomplish their aims, they had the backing of the State and Central Government machinery. To the dismay of the culprits, several spy cam videos recorded discreetly by the Tehelka Team expose the identities of the masterminds who unknowingly bragged of the mass genocide they committed on the Muslim minority community. The videos are aired across India and abroad after the Tehelka website published the story last week.
In much similarity to the anti-Sikh pogroms, strong evidence has been uncovered which proves involvement of top Government officials in the post-Godhra riots. RSS, VHP and Bajrang Dal have been named “Terror’s Proud Merchants” by Tehelka as these organizations played a major role in providing the Hindu mobs with modern art weaponry such as bombs, rocket launchers and firearms in large quantities across Gujarat and other places.
Shocking evidence also concludes how the police not only watched the ‘show’ anarchy as bystanders but also took active part in the Government organized riots. As mobs searched houses and neighbors for Muslims, the police did a good job at disposing the dead bodies to reduce the toll of the massacre. Vehicles which were arranged to carry the Muslims to safety were torched in collaboration of the policemen who were given the responsibility of guarding them.
Notorious Bhartiya Janta Party Leader Narendra Modi has been named as the primary accused in 2002 anti-Muslim riots. According to Haresh Bhatt, the then national co-coordinator of the Bajrang Dal, Narindra Modi was angered by the Godhra incident and for that he sought revenge and gave three days to mobs to fulfill their ‘duty’. Modi toured different parts of Gujarat during and after the riots and commended Chhara tribe which was a key participant of the carnage.
A petition has been filed with the Supreme Court asking it to take the proofs unearthed by Tehelka as evidence against Government officials. The petition has been filed by Teesta Setalvad, a social activist. Several NRI groups have also sent appeals to the Indian Government seeking a dismissal of the Nodi Government in Gujarat.
Those who know and understand the mechanics of Indian justice know that there is little chance that the rich and powerful leaders of the majority Hindu community will ever get convicted. The Sikh community knows that too well. It has been over 20 years, and the victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh pogroms still waiting for the wheels of Indian justice to spin.
