In October of 2007 activists of the Satkar Commitee escorted representatives of Chattar Singh Jiwan Singh Publishers to Sri Akal Takht Sahib
Amritsar Sahib (KP) -- Following the exposé of blasphemous acts by Chattar Singh Jeeven Singh & Sons, the Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Committee and the third front of Damdami Taksal led by Bhai Amrik Singh have come under the microscope of the Takht Jathedars. While the Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Committee has been commended for their commitment to preserve the reverence of Guru Granth Sahib, the Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar has come out with a total opposite viewpoint towards some of the actions taken by the Jathebandi.
Weeks after the incident took place within the premises of Akal Takht Sahib, Jathedar Vedanti has announced that activists of the Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Committee must appear at Akal Takht Sahib to offer their apologies, as blackening of faces was divergent to beliefs propagated by Gurmat. It should be kept in mind that before the representatives of Chattar Singh Jeevan Singh & Sons were turned over to the police, they were beaten up and their faces were blackened by the Singhs.
Jathedar Vedanti has alleged that the activists of the Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Committee should not have taken the law into their own hands for implementing the mandates of Akal Takht Sahib.
Activists of the Jathebandi have however not shown any umbrage towards the recent directives of Jathedar Vedanti and have agreed to appear at Akal Takht Sahib to present their viewpoint. While talking to the press, a spokesperson for the Jathebandi held that the activists were committed to ensuring proper respect is being given to saroops of Guru Granth Sahib. In a very positive manner, the spokesperson held that although the Jathebandi activists were okay to appear to Akal Takht Sahib, they would only do so if the meeting was held in open Sangat and not in a closed room.
While talking to Panthic Weekly, a spokesperson for the Respect for Guru Granth Sahib Ji Campaign North America, Niranjan Singh, held that Akal Takht Sahib should settle these matters without partiality. In the past, Jathedar Vedanti has held resentment towards the Satkar Committee for several reasons.
Not very long ago, the Satkar Committee activists had carried out a campaign against a close associate of Jathedar Vedanti and Parkash Badal. Sulakhan Sinh, a dera operative, was carrying out anti-Gurmat acts while doing parkash of Guru Granth Sahib in his dera. Panthic Weekly had carried out a report on this incident two months ago (see : Police and Politicians Protecting Pseudo-Baba Sulakhan Sinh of Panjwar PW issue 9-12-2007) exposing the pseudo-Sadh and his relations with shady Sikh leadership.
