INDORE, MADYA PARDES -  Residents of Indore were shocked to hear that a prominent local Sikh sewadar, Bhai Ratinder Singh was viciously attacked around midnight by a kukhri ((a Nepalese curved machete) wielding RSS hoodlum in a direct attempt to silence his opposition to anti-Panthic elements.

Bhai Ratinder Singh, who is physically and visually impaired, is serving as the senior editor of Panthic.org, and mukh sevadar of GURISKH/Shahbaaz Khalsa organization.  Bhai Sahib's physical condition is attributed to the years of neglect and mis-treatment he had to endure during his incarceration in India's prison system during the turmoil in Punjab in the late '80s and early 90's.

According to family members, a kukri wielding local RSS ruffian Tarwinder who also goes by the alias "Satta" attacked Bhai Ratinder Singh's house around 11:30pm by first breaking down his door and them making an attempt on Bhai Sahib's life.

Bhai Sahib suffered cuts from Satta's sharp weapon on his shoulders, arms, and legs, but fended of the attack despite his weak health and failing eyesight.  The assaulter soon fled the scene on foot. Attempts were made by the family to call the police, but the authorities did not respond in time.

Bhai Sahib was given medical treatment overnight for his injuries at a local hospital and released back to his family for rest and recuperation.

Interestingly, due to pressure from local BJP members and the RSS, the police was initially hesitant to file a complaint (FIR) or take actions against the perpetrator.

Realizing the inaction of the authorities,  sewadars of Shahbaaz Khalsa then began to gather at the Malhar Ganj police station and also took the injured Bhai Ratinder Singh personally there before the officials filed any paperwork documenting the assault.

Satta, who has long history of criminal offenses, was now reportedly being held in Police custody until further investigation.
