Chandigarh, Punjab (KP) – In a country where the innocent are persecuted, and the guilty are sheltered, the controversial Dera Sacha Sauda chief finally took a breath of relief as he was granted regular bail by a special CBI Court in Ambala this past week for his involvement in three highly publicized criminal cases. The lecherous saadh is undergoing a trial in two cases of murder and in one case of raping a saadhvi. The bail grant was criticized by Sikh organizations who blamed the Centre and the Indian Judiciary of shielding the rich and filthy with impunity.
During the previous court hearing, the decision was held pending by the court in regards to the plea of the CBI prosecution seeking an end to interim bails that are granted to the dera chief. Although it was highly expected that the court will declare a ruling in favor of the prosecution lawyers, the court decision left everyone surprised when it granted a regular bail to the cult leader.
The prosecution had moved the court seeking an end to the interim bails on basis that many of the witnesses in cases against Gurmeet Ram Rahim are facing continuous threats from the dera. In contrast, the lawyers representing the Dera Chief alleged that the CBI had shown bias towards the Dera while working in this case. It was also mentioned that the large following numbering over 2 crores has been upset by the way CBI has managed the case.
Following the recent court hearing, Gurmeet Ram Rahim and his followers have rejoiced the decision taken by Special Judge R.K. Saini. The prosecution has however announced that they will move the Punjab and Haryana High Court against the regular bail for Gurmeet Ram Rahim. While talking to the press, a prosecution council held total surprise over the court ruling as the CBI prosecution team had already provided enough evidence to conclude involvement of Gurmeet Ram Rahim in criminal cases.
Ever since the recent court decision was announced, the Dera has once again started instigating ‘naam charchas’ in public. A large program was held in Ambala soon after the conclusion of the court hearing and was attended by tens of thousands of followers Gurmeet Ram Rahim.
