Amritsar Sahib (KP) – In response to the blashpehmous attacks of the Rozana Spokesman, Panthic Jathebandis held a large scale meeting at Gurdwara Manji Sahib Diwan at Harmandir Sahib complex. The meeting was well attended by representatives of various organizations, including the Shiromani Akali Dal (A), Damdami Taksal, Akhand Kirtani Jatha, Nihung Jathebandis and Sikh Student Federations.
Ultimatum to Punjab Goverment
The Sikh Jathebandis submitted an ultimatum to the Punjab Police to arrest the newspaper editor Joginder Sawney and writer Hari Ratan Yukta before May 22 due to the anti-Panthic agenda of the newspaper. Sikh organizations will carry out protests to halt its publication.
The meeting continued for over four hours, and several crucial issues were discussed. At the end, the Sangat in attendance welcomed the decision to boycott the newspaper from all fronts. Sikh Sangat also decided to obstruct the sale of the newspaper. Spokespersons of all Jathebandis further pressed that sevadars and Granthi Singhs of Gurdwaras should raise awareness of Rozana Spokesman’s anti-Gurmat parchar. All Panthic minded supporters, along with news reporters and staff of the newspaper were asked to withdraw their support to the newspaper.
Sikh Sangat also declared that to upkeep the superiority of Akal Takhat Sahib, Joginder Sawney and Hari Ratan Yukta should appear at Akal Takhat Sahib to seek pardon for their mistakes. In the past, before he was excommunicated from the Panth, Sawney had openly refused to appear at Akal Takhat Sahib to discuss his relations with anti-Panthic figures. He further filed a lawsuit against Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti and the Akal Takhat Sahib.
S. Simranjit Singh Mann of Shiromani Akali Dal (A), told the Sikh Sangat that the newspaper has been against the principles of the Guru Sahibs ever since its existence. In the beginning, the newspaper was against Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Ji, and now it has started to write against Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji as well. S. Mann further expressed grief over the fact that many so-called ‘Panthic Organizations’ were not speaking against Rozana Spokesman.
Spokespersons of different organizations that were present at the meeting included Bhai Raam Singh, Shiromani Akali Dal (A), Giani Sher Singh Ambala, Sant Kuldeep Singh Dhalikai, Sant Surjit Singh Mehre Wale, Sant Amarjit Singh Kila Hakima, Sant Harbeant Singh Mastunae Wale, Sant Harbans Singh Jainpur, Jathedar Randhir Singh Tarna Dal, Baba Nahar Singh, Baba Deya Singh Ji Sursang, Bhai Sukhvinder Singh Shahbaaz Khalsa, and Bhai Parnaam Singh, member of Akhand Kirtani Jatha 11 member committee, among others.
