KASHMIR - The Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Geelani has demanded that the Chattisinghpora massacre should be probed into by some international institution and those involved in it should be punished, adding that Kashmir is not an issue of communal war but an issue of broken promises.
While interacting with a delegation of Sikh Students Federation that visited his Hyderpora residence in Srinagar, Syed Ali Geelani said, “The uncertainty will continue to prevail in the South Asian region until the Kashmir issue is resolved.”
Geelani demanded probe into the Chattisinghpora massacre by some international institution, according to a statement issued by his forum.
“The innocent members of Sikh community were brutally killed at the time when the-then US president was visiting New Delhi. The massacre was carried out to mislead the international community about the Kashmir movement and link it with terrorism,” he added.
“It is our religious duty to respect all minorities in Kashmir including Sikhs. We support the struggle of Punjab Sikhs for their rights,” emphasised.
The veteran leader apprised the Sikh delegation about the prevailing situation in occupied Kashmir.
The veteran leader praised the political insight of the Sikh leaders and said that certain agencies were trying to raise communal tension in the territory. The delegation was led by its president Paramjeet Singh.
